COMING EVENTS: LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF CUYAHOGA COUNTY MEETINGS

This Wednesday, February 1, Sean P. Stipe, Libertarian candidate for Congress in US House District 9, Bob Sherwin, Libertarian candidate for State Representative in District 57 and I will be discussing our campaigns. If any other Libertarian candidate wishes to speak, you are also invited. As usual, our meeting will be held at Denny’s Restaurant, 4331 West 150th Street, Cleveland, just south of I 71. We will hold our meetings at the same location on the first Wednesday of each month except May and July.

If you have suggestions for future speakers or programs or any other questions or comments, please email me or call me at 440-248-8620.

LIBERTARIAN PARTY NEWS

Libertarian candidates for Congress were required to circulate petitions twice. I will be running against Representative Steve EXPIRATION DATE LaTourette in District 14. Chris Kalla (4 as write-in), Kalin Stipe (9), and Jeffrey Blevins (16) will also be running for Congress in our area, as well as Bob Sherwin in Lorain county. A list of all of our candidates, as far as is known, is available at www.lpo.org.

Thanks to everyone who provided assistance to us.

For information about our incumbent opponents, including LaTourette (14), Jim Jordan (4) Marcy Kaptur and Dennis Kucinich (9) and Betty Sutton and Jim Renacci (16) see http://www.thenewamerican.com/files/Freedom_Index_112-2.pdf. The New American’s Freedom Index is highly reliable. Ron Paul has always earned a 100% rating except once about ten years ago.

Unfortunately David Finley in northeast Summit County was unable to obtain sufficient signatures for ballot access. Chris Kalla in US House District 4 will be a write-in candidate.

Also, unfortunately, we did not have sufficient manpower to get 500 signatures for John Fockler to run for the US Senate. He will be on the ballot as a write-in so that every voter in Ohio can become a registered Libertarian on March 6. He needs 500 votes to be on the ballot in November.

Here is a correction from long time dedicated Libertarian activist, Cheryl Neufer, regarding the Ohio Medical Marijuana Initiative: Again, congratulations to Ohio NORML for its efforts to restore the right to use marijuana for medical purposes. This will be a long, difficult petition drive. If you want to help, check

It is barbarically inhumane to prevent someone who is in severe pain or actually dying from using whatever substance may assist him The war on drugs, besides being a war on the Constitution, is also a war on humanity.

All federal and state candidates should devote a great deal of our campaigns to supporting this measure.

Two-thirds of the voters of Ohio, including all 88 counties, including leftist Cuyahoga, Lucas, Mahoning and Athens, repudiated Obamacare and all socialized medicine when they supported the new  health care amendment to the Ohio Constitution. As happens quite often, the principled position and the politically profitable one coincide.

The Libertarian Party of Ohio State Convention will take place at the Holiday Inn in Worthington from Friday evening, March 30 to Noon Sunday, April 1. Information will be available soon at www.lpo.org

The Libertarian Party National Convention will take place at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, from May 3 to 6. See www.lp.org for details. Contact the LPO through www.lpo.org to find out how to become a delegate and watch for information very soon about our state convention which must take place before April 1. If you wish to attend, contact Kevin Knedler, State Chairman.

Gary Johnson, the former governor of New Mexico, who established an excellent record as governor of Arizona where he vetoed 750 bills, has left the Republican campaign and is now running for the Libertarian nomination for president. He has joined R. Lee Wrights, Bill Still, Carl Person and the very creative James Libertarian Burns (no relation to our persistent and very imaginative Congressional candidate in Cincinnati). Wayne Allyn Root has been frequently mentioned but has not yet declared.  The establishment was able to black Governor Johnson out thoroughly since he was not as well-known as Ron Paul. To his credit, he did not allow himself to be used as a tool in the anti-Paul movement.

THE RON PAUL CAMPAIGN AND OTHER COMMENTS

(Due to its importance, I am repeating this information from last month.)

Beyond question, Ron Paul is the greatest living American statesman. He has done more to promote libertarian principles than anyone else in the last thirty years. He brought the Federal Reserve System, which has raped and pillaged our money for almost 100 years, to the attention of the American people. He popularized the current movement for opposition to excessive taxation and support for limited Constitutional government, and highlighted the unconstitutionality of our current wars. When the enemy tries to attack him, they have to go back twenty years to nitpick at some statements about race relations which he may or may not have written. The other candidates have so many skeletons in their closets that they could be mistaken for cemeteries.

I believe that the Republican Party will follow the tradition which they have practiced for 60 years against patriots such as Robert Taft and Barry Goldwater and stab Ron Paul in the back. It is my hope that he would accept the nomination of the Libertarian Party. Gary Johnson would make an excellent candidate for Vice President this year.

America faces World War III, economic collapse and a possible civil war if the police state which has been set up under Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes Obama to kidnap you and execute or imprison you indefinitely in the recently activated FEMA camps without trial. This situation could not be much grimmer. On the other hand, if the American people wake up,we could be in the forefront of advances in the cause of liberty which have not been seen in our lifetimes.

However, we do face another dilemma. If you are an Ohioan, you can either vote for Ron Paul in the March 6 Primary Election or you can vote for Libertarian candidates, including myself for Congress and State Central Committee in the 14th District and write in my name for Precinct Committeeman in Ward 5 Precinct C of Solon. I never thought that I would be morally conflicted about voting for myself. We live in very strange times. An important consideration is the necessity of having a viable Libertarian Party, whatever the future holds for us. I urge some of you, at least, to bite the bullet and vote Libertarian.

CAMPAIGN APPEARANCES

This is a new feature which will continue until Election Day. Unless otherwise noted, the events are free and open to the public. It is always beneficial to show popular support for candidates. Where possible, direct questions to me so that I have more opportunity to proclaim liberty.

6:35 PM to 6:47 PM Tuesday, February 7. I will appear by phone on the Charlie Earl Show, WSPD 1370 AM Toledo  www.wspd.com

6:15 PM to 9:30 PM Thursday, February 16 Trumbull Township Association Candidates Forum, Kent State Trumbull Lecture Hall “A” 4314 Mahoning Avenue, NW, Warren, Ohio 44483

7:00 PM Thursday, February 23 Cleveland Ron Paul 2012 Meetup Panini’s Bar and Grill, 17209 Lorain Road, Cleveland 44111 at the corner of Rocky River Blvd. (at Kamm’s Corner).

If you know of any other candidates’ forums or opportunities to speak in my district US 14, elsewhere in Cuyahoga County, Summit, and the Warren and Youngstown areas, please notify me as soon as possible. It is important to have as much information as possible to invite oneself to such events, especially if the organizers have not done so.

As America plunges into a full blown police state with the passage of Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act and signing by Obama on December 31, with almost no mention in the kept establishment media, and the threats of World War III and economic collapse loom ever larger, it is more important than ever to do as much as we can to advance the cause of liberty. Do whatever you can. Your life and liberty and the lives and liberty of those whom you love depend upon it.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JOHN MCALISTER

For ten years, John McAlister served as a Libertarian (though nonpartisan) member of the Gahanna City Council. He was also the Libertarian candidate for the US Senate at the City Club debate in 2000 which he dominated over his three statist opponents and which should be an example to Libertarian candidates. Unfortunately, John has chosen to take a well-deserved rest. Here is the tribute to him from the Gahanna City Council. http://johnmcalister.com/council/index.html Let’s hope that they manage to recollect at least some of his principles.

OTHER NEWS

American participation in the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War were all caused by naval attacks or alleged naval attacks, the USS  Maine, the Lusitania, Pearl Harbor and the fraudulent Gulf of Tonkin incident. FROM CHERYL NEUFER, A BRIEF ANALYSIS OF THE TWO MEDICAL MARIJUANA INITIATIVES:

The main difference that I can see in the two initiatives is that the OMCA2012 will create an Ohio Commission of Cannabis Control that will license and determine the regulations of medical cannabis within 270 days after the 90 days after it is voted in.  This Commission will license or authorize other personnel to regulate medical cannabis.   Fines, regulatory fees, licensing fees and permit fees shall be determined by the Commission. The details of regulation are not in the initiative itself.

The OATA amendment spells out the regulations and control in the initiative.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM JBS COORDINATOR THOMAS J. RICE;

STILL WORTHY OF REPETITION

From: Thomas J. Rice
Sent: Fri 11/11/2011 9:58 PM

Subject: FW: House Con-Con Bill

To all John Birch Society Chapter Leaders and Friends of the Constitution:

Currently there are two bills in the Ohio General Assembly which call for the convening of a constitutional convention. Senate Joint Resolution 2 would ask a convention to discuss a balanced budget amendment, an amendment giving the President the line item veto, and an amendment requiring Congress to adopt budgets every two years ( instead of annually ). House Joint Resolution 3 would ask a convention to discuss an amendment that would require federal debt increases to be approved by a majority of state legislatures. These bills have been referred to their respective House and Senate committees ( refer to the above attachments ).

THESE CON-CON BILLS MUST BE DEFEATED. Please contact your chapter members and patriotic friends, urging them to contact the members of these respective House and Senate committees, encouraging them to vote against S.J.R. 2 and H.J.R. 3.

BEST JOKE OF 2012

FUNERAL EXPENSES

Obama goes on  a State visit to Israel.  While he is on a tour of

Jerusalem,  he has a fatal heart attack.

The  undertakers tells the US diplomats: “You can have him shipped home

for $1 million or you can bury him here in the Holy Land for  $100.”

The US  diplomats go into a huddle and come back to the undertaker and

tell  him they still want Obama flown  home.

The  undertaker is puzzled and asks:  “Why would you spend $1  million to

get him home when it would be wonderful to be buried here  in this

religious country and you would only spend  $100?”

One diplomat  replied:  “More than 2000 years ago a man died here, was

buried  here, and just 3 days later he rose from the dead.  We simply

can’t take that risk”.
